Thank you very much.

The examination manual for the College of Mental Health Counseling, this book gives away the secrets of effective counselors and therapists. The practical skills and concepts distilled in the present form, are the contributions of countless colleagues and clients who over the years have challenged the creative energies of the author. Effective Counseling Skills is designed to achieve the primary purpose of making counseling skills public knowledge in the belief that the health of society is improved when counseling is known to the most people. The style of the manual is conversational with numerous examples of the wording of therapeutic statements. Major topic areas include an explanation of the client's personal history, how to begin and deepen the counseling process, helping the client learn healthy ways of relating, skills for healing grief, working with couples, as well as practical ways to manage a counseling practice, and much more.

The Lost Mystery of Baptism

Bibliographical references and index.
Library of Congress Control Number: 2009902959

Where were the 3,000 people baptized on the day of Pentecost when the church first started in Acts 2:41?
Where is the oldest known baptistery dating from the first century AD?
What is that large oval hole in the floor of St. Peters basilica underneath the baptismal font?
Why are the early baptismal basins so large?

The original practice and meaning of baptism as the central experience of personal conversion to Jesus Christ, has become a lost mystery to the vast majority of people in the world. From the early centuries of the common era until the 13th century, changes occurred that would leave baptism almost unrecognizable to its first participants. This groundbreaking volume containing much new information, combines a look at baptism from two perspectives: the biblical teaching followed by the physical evidence of the places of baptism in the ancient and medieval world. Descriptions of baptismal basins are given for the period extending from the 1st to the 15th centuries in Europe, the Mediterranean region and mostly Italy. Included wherever possible are the dimensions of baptismal basins, the centuries constructed or in use, the presence of inscriptions, and locations of buildings housing the basins.

Personal Counseling Journal

By Daniel Keeran

The purpose of the Personal Counseling Journal is for you to record reflections of counseling sessions as they occur. The journal begins with the Life Story Questionnaire, the personal assessment in which the details of your life experience can be disclosed. Although this may be uncomfortable, completing your Life Story Questionnaire will add to your recovery process.

The next section is the Counseling Session Journal in which you write about your experiences during the counseling sessions as well as any assignments suggested by your counselor. The parts of each session entry relate to emotions explored, insights gained, and new decisions and behaviors acquired.

The Therapeutic Exercises in the Appendix can be used to facilitate your recovery during the counseling process. The last section on Creative Solution Development is a structured approach to creating solutions and taking action on any kind of issue or challenge you are facing in your life.

Absurdities of Atheism:

Meditations On Believing

By Daniel Keeran, MSW

166 pages, with extensive bibliography on theism and atheism.

This volume asserts that if there is no God then certain absurdities follow. For example, humans possess no unique value, there is no objective morality, the existence of humanity has no meaning. Without the transcendent, pursuits and values are delusions of the human species. The information required for the intricate complexity of the universe from the single cell to the structure of the cosmos, has no contributor in the absence of a transcendent intelligence. In the year of his death in 1955, the revered scientist Albert Einstein clarified his formerly ambiguous views: "My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God" (Calaprice, ed., The Quotable Einstein, pp.195-6). The noted former atheist Anthony Flew finally concurred with Einstein, and Alberto Camus died in 1960 admitting the futility of his atheism.

Ancient and Medieval Baptismal Fonts

By Daniel Keeran

The photographs selected for this volume were personally taken by the author with the exception of those used by permission as indicated. There is very little available to English readers on the subject of early and medieval baptisteries and fonts.

This brief introductory volume of selected baptismal fonts is published in the hope that further interest will be stimulated to explore baptismal history and development. Important new information is given on what may be the earliest known baptismal basin dating from the first century in Milan as well as the mysteious basin cut into the floor of Saint Peters basilica in Rome. The connection is made between the mikvah ritual purification pools of Jerusalem and the development of baptismal fonts.

After completing research at the Bibliotecha Apostolica Vaticana in Rome and at the American Academy Library in Rome, an itinerary was planned for visiting the sites. Listed in alphabetical order by city, the largest number of early baptismal basins is found in Italy with a sampling from other countries.

Christian Terrorism

lay down your life... take up your cross

By Daniel Keeran

206 pages, bibliography, index, biblical references

Some teachings of Jesus have been softened or ignored because of the fear many feel when confronted with the implications. Jesus said things such as one must take up his cross daily, lose one's life, give up everything one possesses, love one's enemies, resist not the evil one, and similar frightening messages. The troubling verses are explored in detail and without compromise.

This revolutionary kind of "terrorism" is very different than anything found in worldy philosophies and causes. It is a terrorism that strikes fear in the heart of everyone who dares to honestly consider the manner of life in following Jesus. It is the terrifying message of the cross that calls people to actually become living sacrifices for those who oppose them and for those who are in trouble.
